Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking to hire an innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Engineering – Thrusters team in the Global Customer Support division at Kongsberg Maritime Finland OY.

As a mechanical design engineer, one of your main duties is to support the team in planning and executing the upgrade design of existing thruster units. Most of the design work is done with close collaboration with our product management team. We wish you to be a creative problem solver with good communication skills as you are expected to give advice and support to the global service network and technical support and steer our existing network of contractors.

Responsibilities

• Planning and executing the upgrade design of existing thruster units
• Steering the network of sub-contractors
• Assisting Technical Support and global service network
• Design support for technical support team
• Co-operation with product management

Qualification and experience

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
• Previous experience with 2D and 3D design tools (we use NX), and AutoCad
• Previous experience with PLM systems (experience with Team Center is an advantage)
• Experience with Classification Societies is an advantage
• Previous experience and knowledge of shipbuilding and maritime industry are considered as an advantage
• Good verbal and written English skills
• Possibility to travel
