Design Engineer - Pod propulsion

Are you an engineer looking for an exciting position in the marine business where you can use your interest in design to develop innovative propulsion systems for the future? We can offer you that opportunity as Design Engineer in our Pod propulsion team at Kongsberg Maritime in Kristinehamn, Sweden.

PODS are high-end, fully electric propulsion systems and is a vital part of our portfolio of environmentally friendly maritime propulsion solutions, providing high efficiency and low noise with outstanding manoeuvrability.

We are looking for an engineer, who with dedication and curiosity, can contribute to new and forward-looking designs for our Pod products, as well as delivering to our commitments in customer projects. You will be part of a skilled and positive team working with development projects and customization of solutions for new sales projects. The team is handling everything from product development and project specific customization, to detailed manufacturing drawings and customer relations.

In your role you will work with ensuring that the product meets the design requirements and high standards for greener maritime transportation. Your main contribution will be in mechanical engineering and 3D CAD in NX and Teamcenter. You will have the possibility to be included in all stages of the product development, from first drawings to the final test run.

Qualifications and experience

To succeed in this position, you have a university education at least bachelor level, or equivalent work experience, within the field of mechanical engineering and 3D CAD. Preferably with some years of experience. Experience or understanding within naval engineering, marine propulsion, hydraulics and/or quality control is considered an advantage but not a requirement. Competence in review and approval of design and drawings is a great plus.

Due to the nature of an international customer and supplier base, a good level of English, both written and speaking, is valuable. Communication skills in other languages is considered an advantage.
