Propeller Blade Designer

We are seeking for a driven Propeller Blade Designer, to join our experienced Propulsion Hydrodynamics team in our own Hydrodynamic Research Centre, located in Kristinehamn. This is a unique opportunity to work in an environment where there are no given answers and solutions, where your creativity and problem-solving ability are put to test. Our collaboration with the research community ensures that we are at the forefront of the technical development.
As a Propeller Blade Designer, you will closely collaborate with shipyards, ship designers and ship owners to transform their requirements into efficient and sustainable solutions. Using CFD and model testing, you develop and adapt propeller and rudder designs to meet specific customer needs. Our unique testing facility with cavitation tunnels allow us to deliver cutting-edge solutions tailored to each vessel and according to expectations.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to deliver and lead high quality hydrodynamic research projects on time and to budget. You ensure the quality of your work is exemplary and actively work to continuously improve the group’s methods and processes.

Qualifications and experience
We believe that you have a genuine interest in boats, ships and the marine environment. You hold a masters’ degree in mathematics, engineering physics, Naval Architecture or equivalent. Due to the nature of an international customer and supplier base, high level of English, both written and speaking, is important. Communication skills in other languages are considered an advantage.
We appreciate your ability to act on own initiative and make things happen with a methodical and systematic approach. You should be able to analyze complex issues and deep dive into technical problem solving without losing focus on delivery. Teamwork is key to succeed in position, we therefore highly appreciate your ability to co-operate well with others, share knowledge, experience, information and support others in the pursuit of team goals.
Kongsberg works with customers from both the commercial and naval market segments. In this role, you will work with classified materials, security clearance and export control are both required for this position. Questions related to citizenship will be part of the selection process.
