E-House Designer

An interesting opportunity ahead: E-house Designer for the Solution Business Unit of Kongsberg Maritime AS (KM).

We see growth opportunities within the Oil Production Unit (OPU) market segment, where KM already is well established with our products and services. We are now seeking an E-house Designer which will become responsible for our design of E-house modules delivered to FPSO-units. Our approach to this market is to offer a set of system-packages integrated into one turnkey solution. The system packages are typically comprising Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS), Electrical Systems, Telecom Systems, and the E-house module package. The E-house designer is responsible for the design and layout of the E-house module package. We work with fabrication yards in Asia for the construction and we deliver the E-house ready for lift-on to the FPSO-unit as a turnkey solution.

As E-House Designer you will play an important role in bid development, front-end design & engineering, and technical management of the E-House portfolio. You will work in close collaboration with sales, customers, external suppliers, and relevant stakeholders within Kongsberg Maritime AS. In the tender phase, you will work together with the other system package leads in KM bid-team to complete the KM bid documentation. For the execution of the delivery project, you will hand over the contracted design work to the Technical Lead which will complete the work on the E-house engineering in close cooperation with the Project Manager and relevant disciplines.

The role is organised within the KM Solution Business unit where you will report to the Director Solution Design and Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Portfolio Management: Maintain and develop our design booklets, design instructions and guidelines for the E-house module. Continuous improvement of our product profitability measures and market shares / volumes.
• Initial Design: Developing initial design arrangement, lay-outs and estimate material-take-out data for various type of E-Houses based on customer requirements. Estimation of weights and length of piping/cabling, engineering hours and other relevant input to define and/or validate the cost-calculations. Optimize the arrangement, lay-outs and accompanying design solutions of structure, piping, electrical, HVAC/Safety etc. to maximize our competitive force.
• Interface and Functional requirements: Describe the system solution, together with the system interfaces, functions, and boundaries.
• Collaborating with Engineers: Working closely with specialists within Structure, Electrical, Machinery/Piping and HVAC/SAFTEY disciplines to integrate all necessary systems within the E-House.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that all designs and constructions comply with relevant standards and regulations as well as customer requirements.
• Technical Lead: For selected projects, overseeing the project from concept to completion, i.e. lead the execution of the engineering and fabrication phase of the E-house module.

Qualifications and experience

• Technical background and experience as naval architecture, marine/structural engineering, or equivalent background from shipyards or other relevant party within the oil & gas industry.
• Experience from fabrication of modules or commissioning is advantageous.
• Leadership- and communication capabilities, with ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
• Familiar with relevant IT tools – e.g., CAD, planning and document handling.
• Good skills in English, orally and writing
