Project Engineer – Structural Design

Our Integration & Energy division owns, develops, and delivers world class integration, with focus on providing sustainable and efficient integrated solutions with customer value beyond the aggregated value of products and systems. The division is responsible for product and technology development, supply chain operations and project delivery for Energy solutions, Ship Design, Green Fuels and Remote & Autonomous solutions. Integration & Energy is established to support Kongsberg Maritime’s customers in navigating the energy transition, using our knowledge of marine operations and technological expertise to take a leading role as our customers’ key partner in reliable, sustainable and safe vessel operations.

This exciting opportunity as Project Engineer – Structural Design reports to Department Manager – Structural Design. In this role you will be responsible for hull- and structural engineering within Ship Design division, including global strength and calculations, structural grid design, foundations, outfitting and arrangements. This role will contribute towards new sales and tender projects, as well as R&T and after-market support.

Key accountabilities

• Contribute to the Structural Design discipline deliveries during project execution.
• Steel Classification drawings
• Arrangements
• Foundations and Steel Outfitting
• Perform rule checks, calculations and supporting documentation for relevant approvals.
• Collaborate closely with the wider project team.
• Contribute to maintaining high standards of delivery quality, and assist in R&D programs and technical sales support.
• Contribute to our team; socially and professionally.
  
  

Qualifications and experience

• Technical degree from college or university within ship design or marine technology.
• Educational experience with marine structural design and construction is an advantage.
• CAD drafting and drawings, project follow-up software and shipbuilding/operational experience also an advantage.
