Field Service Engineer – DP

As a Field Service Engineer, you are the first in line when it comes to representing Kongsberg to our worldwide customers. To further strengthen our team, we are looking fora Field Service Engineer to join our Global Customer Support (GCS) departments in UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Working as a Field Service Engineer (Systems), you will do installation and commissioning of Kongsberg’s Dynamic Positioning and Joystick Control Systems (Software & Hardware, including vessel modelling, thruster tuning, Interfaces and inhouse engineering), Acoustic Positioning Systems (HiPAP), various reference systems & sensors from Kongsberg Seatex, and Bandak Tautwire systems on vessels and in shipyards around the world. You will also perform on-call & planned services and maintenance on sailing ships, as well as in-house technical support to our customers. Key accountabilities

• Installation and commissioning of our Dynamic Positioning and Joystick Control Systems, Acoustic Positioning Systems (HiPAP), various reference systems & sensors from Kongsberg Seatex, and Bandak Tautwire systems
• Inhouse engineering and onboard commissioning of DP Software (tuning of vessel model, Software upgrades & Interface modifications)
• Perform tasks for system maintenance and performance assessments.
• Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
• Support troubleshooting, configuring & repairing the products and other connected units as applicable
• Perform on-call services, system acceptance tests, installation, commissioning, upgrades, onboard training, fault analysis and rectification work at customer sites and installations.
• Be able and willing to perform emergency call-out services (including non-office hours) to provide customers with fast and efficient services within UAE and worldwide.
• Execute the requested job in the best way to meet customer’s deadlines and expectations.
• To be able to work closely with Product center for timely updates and for continuous knowledge improvisation.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one or more of the following: electronics or instrumentation
• Minimum 3 years field experience in Dynamic positioning system field services
• Willingness to travel on short notice
• Fluent in English, both written and orally
• Highly motivated for worldwide travel & support activities
• Meet the health requirements that apply for offshore work
• Ability to work with others in a team.
• Service minded/humble, and know the importance of giving the necessary attention to our customers.
