Design Engineer, Mechanics

We are looking to hire an innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering – Thrusters team in the Product management of Retractable and Special Thrusters at Kongsberg Maritime Finland OY.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, one of your main duties is to design and maintain new and existing thruster units. Most of the design work is done in close collaboration with our product management team but also with other stakeholders. We wish you to be a creative problem solver with good communication skills as you are expected to design new and develop existing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design new solutions and products as part of our engineering team
• Develop and maintain existing products
• Assisting Technical Support and global service network
• Provide support for our factory on manufacturing our products
• Technical documentation
• Support other stakeholder on technical matters

Qualification and experience

• Good verbal and written English
• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
• Previous experience with 2D and 3D design tools (we use NX), and AutoCad
• Previous experience with PLM systems (experience with Team Center is an advantage)
• Previous experience and knowledge of shipbuilding and maritime industry are considered as an advantage
• Previous experience and knowledge of heavy machinery, hydraulics, sealing and driveline design are considered as an advantage
• Experience with Classification Societies is an advantage
• Possibility to travel
