Technical Product Manager - Anchoring and Mooring

An exciting opportunity has arisen as Technical Product Manager within Merchant, Propulsion & Handling.  In this role you will be the main technical authority for the anchoring and mooring product line. The product area includes mooring winches, windlasses, anchor and mooring capstans, chain stoppers, drive systems for winches, other. You are the main contact point to other parts of the Kongsberg organization and external partners on technical and product cost issues. You will be responsible for setting up product roadmaps and manage the development projects set up to achieve the milestones.  

The position is in our Handling business area which owns, develops and delivers world class handling solutions, with focus on system solutions and integration driving increased efficiency in our customers' operations. The area is responsible for product and technology development, supply chain operations and project delivery for all Kongsberg Maritime’s winches and handling solutions.

We are looking for a leader with strong technical background to lead the product management of our product family within anchoring and mooring winches. We are in a phase where digitalization, connectivity and integration with rest of Kongsberg product portfolio is key element for future growth and success.

Key accountabilities
As a Technical Product Manager, you will engage with ongoing and future research programs supporting anchoring and mooring winches at Kongsberg Maritime. Other important areas of responsibility include the maintenance and continuous improvement of existing products. The Technical Product Manager is also the safety lead for the mentioned systems. 

  • Technical authority for the product area - Be the technical authority on behalf of the product throughout its life cycle.
  • Manage and supervise development projects and life cycle within own product area.
  • Define product vision, roadmap, and strategies
  • Answer incoming questions about the product and its capabilities
  • Assess and address technical/product risks
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of existing products
  • Study market requirements and technologies and come up with new ways to improve the company’s products

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree within engineering
  • Experience and competence with marine operations (winch systems, deck machinery, other) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations in marine industry
  • Experience with technical product management is an advantage
  • Experience from customer contact
  • Fluency in English, verbal and in writing
