Platform Developer

We in the Ocean Science department aim to build systems that support the world in quantifying the realities of the ocean and assess the impact of industrialization of the ocean resources. We supply a wide range of ocean monitoring sensor systems and the corresponding digital solutions. Our newest digital cloud-based product, Blue Insight, bridges the gap between world class sensors and world class scientists.
Blue Insight creates value for our customers through software deployed to USV, AUV, Offshore Fish Farms, Research Vessels, and Cloud. We strive for the high level of automation required in a world that is increasingly autonomous. Our customers can use automatic deployment of Machine Learning algorithms to edge devices improving operational efficiency.
What you will be doing
We're looking for a Platform Developer with experience in geospatial technologies and time-series databases. You'll design and implement scalable web applications, working with cross-functional teams. Knowledge of OGC APIs, geospatial indexing, and query optimization is essential
We think you should be able to
- Design & develop Platform / Backend applications with RESTful or GraphQL APIs, including OGC-compliant endpoints.
- Integrate, store, and index geospatial data in databases like PostGIS or other spatial databases.
- Implement geospatial queries and optimizations to ensure efficient data retrieval.
- Work with time-series databases (Timescale) for storing and analyzing high-volume real-time data.
- Implement best practices for schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Stay updated with emerging trends in geospatial and time-series data processing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or similar languages
- Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases (e.g., Postgres), including indexing and performance tuning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with data science and visualization tools.
- Hands-on experience with time-series databases (Timescale) for data ingestion and querying.
- Experience with PostGIS, spatial indexing, and geospatial libraries (e.g., GDAL, GeoPandas).
- Background in map rendering libraries (Leaflet, Mapbox, OpenLayers) is a plus.
- Familiarity with OGC standards and APIs
- Experience in processing and analyzing oceanic or environmental data.
