Job Title: Field Engineer

Department: Customer Support

Team: P&H Services

Location: Kongsberg Maritime Korea Jeong-gwan Office

Scope of work:

• Undertake or lead a team in performing repair and service operations on a variety of products within a specified scope of work.

• Disassemble, inspect, and assess parts to determine the need for repair or replacement.

• Conduct inspections in accordance with defined standards to ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances.

• Access and interpret relevant technical data to determine assembly methods and sequences.

• Maintain all necessary technical documentation.

• Ensure that all work is conducted in compliance with applicable laws and company procedures, including health and safety policies.

• Provide progress updates and report issues to the Service/Operations Manager.

• Serve as a liaison between the customer and the organization, representing the company in an ambassadorial role.

• Support and, when appropriate, lead initiatives for business improvement.

• Promote knowledge sharing and facilitate on-the-job employee development, serving as a mentor as needed.

• Conduct technical training sessions as required.

Main tasks and responsibilities: 

• Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities and providing guidance to team members.

• Execute the defined scope of work in accordance with established procedures.

• Undertake field assignments in Korea and internationally in accordance with established procedures.

• Manage technical issues related to the assigned scope of work, including inter-company correspondence, following established routines and procedures.

• Familiarize oneself with relevant routines and procedures to ensure optimal handling of both the economic and technical aspects of the assigned scope of work for Kongsberg Group, Kongsberg Maritime, and/or Kongsberg Maritime Korea.

• Perform any additional tasks and responsibilities as agreed upon with the Department Manager.

Qualifications / Skills:

• More than 2 years of experience as an engineer with expertise in Deck Machinery, Tunnel Thruster, Controllable Pitch Propeller, Waterjet, Azimuth Thruster, etc.

• Work experience in onboard/offshore work, shipbuilding supplies industry, and shipyard preferred.

• Willingness to travel frequently both domestically and internationally

• Must own a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.

• Prepared and motivated for global support activities.

• Strong time management skills.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent cooperative and communication skills.

• Customer service-oriented mindset.

• Proficient in written and verbal communication in English.
