Climate and nature manager

KONGSBERG is seeking a climate and nature manager to be part of our group sustainability team.

The role will spearhead the climate and nature agenda which is central to deliver on our strategic ambition of driving sustainable change. This includes responsibility for developing and managing our Group climate strategy, plans and targets and support and advice across the business areas to achieve the desired results. The position will lead in developing KONGSBERGs transition plan towards a net zero and circular society, climate and nature related financial risk management, climate accounting and reporting, as well as internal capacity and competence building.

We are facing rapidly evolving expectations and requirements related to climate and nature and it is imperative to understand the regulatory landscape and respond in an adequate and timely manner. It is expected that the role has a thorough understanding of environmental regulations and the ability to translate these into business implications and related risks and opportunities.

The role reports to the VP Sustainability and is part of the CFO organization where strategic integration of sustainability is a core business priority.

Responsibilities

  • Be our subject matter expert on climate and nature
  • Ensure that the Group strategy, policies, targets and actions within climate and nature covers material impacts, risks and opportunities and are in line with stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Track performance of key metrics such as the KONGSBERG’s climate targets, analyze and communicate results and support the business areas on effective implementation.
  • Manage and lead the climate accounting and reporting in line with relevant, leading requirements and methods for reporting such as the GHG protocol and CSRD in collaboration with our business areas.
  • Lead the development of tools and practices on climate and nature related risk management and reporting including scenario analysis, reporting and integration in ERM and strategy processes.
  • Project management of strategic priorities within climate and nature such as net zero transition planning and circularity.
  • Policy engagement and dialogue with the relevant stakeholders and standard setters such as the Science-Based Target initiative.
  • Lead internal capacity building related to climate and nature and including contributing to the development of key practices such as Life cycle analysis.
  • The areas of responsibility are evolving in line with developments in climate science and corporate practices.

Who are you?

  • We believe you are a results-oriented sustainability professional with a profound understanding of the role of business and commercial potential in achieving positive impact on climate and nature.
  • You enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams, learning and sharing knowledge, and you are eager to be part of a world leading technology group with broad industrial exposure.
  • You have interest, experience and documented results related to managing and measuring impact on climate. You have strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and enjoy managing complex multi-stakeholder projects in large and diverse companies.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field (such as engineering, finance, economics)
  • 3-7 years' experience in environmental sustainability roles or similar
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing climate and/or nature programs
  • Good knowledge of the leading standards and policy developments including the GHG protocol, TCFD, CSRD/ESRS and the EU Green Deal.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Industry experience and thorough understanding of value chain perspectives
  • Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement and partnerships
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Norwegian
  • Experience in strategy development and implementation is an advantage
  • Relevant experience may compensate for formal qualifications
