Senior Project Manager - Stabilisers and Naval Steering Gear
The Senior Project Manager is accountable for a project's overall success (profit/loss), ensuring compliance with Kongsberg strategies (Sales, Sourcing and Product).
As a key member of the Stabilisers and Naval Steering Gear UK management team, with team management responsibility, this role contributes to, and supports development of, the overall strategic goals and "must win" battles for business. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are executed and aligned with Kongsberg objectives, including supporting the tendering process, delivery, and its lifecycle. This includes:
- Ensuring that the Project execution strategy is reflected in the tendering process and the negotiation of contractual obligation in conjunction with the Sales Team to ensure these can be successfully executed by the business
- Identify and manage risk in the bid, negotiation and delivery phases of the Project
- Execution responsibility for all Projects in the portfolio resulting in deliveries to internal/external customers
- Establishment of Project organisation within the portfolio ensuring effective Project execution throughout its lifecycle in liaison with Sales, Products, Operations, Strategic SC, and Global Customer Support
- Efficient resource utilisation and development of people within the Project Management function
- Ensuring efficient handover between Sales and Delivery as well as from Delivery to Global Customer Support
- Support development and maintain adherence to KM Business Management System in relation to Project delivery process and procedures
- Drive Project execution in accordance with the Company’s HSE & Quality standards, ensure on time delivery and deliver according to budgets
- Continuously manage and mitigate risk supporting the Company’s business strategy
Key Accountabilities
- As a key stakeholder, support tender meetings and pre-bid reviews in accordance with the sales process, targeting best results for the Company
- Contribute to the categorization of Projects based on its risk profile
- Approve Project budgets, goals, and strategy for each contract
- Establish and sign the Project Charter to empower your Project Managers to:
- Meet or exceed budget targets
- Meet Company on-time delivery targets
- Follow HSE & Quality guidelines and practices
- Enable handover from Sales to efficient project launch
- Enable proper close-out of the project and handover to Global Customer Support
- Meet other agreed strategic goals for the business unit and division
- Establish a professional relationship with customers, developing trust between KONGSBERG and the client
- Cooperate closely with Sales and Global Customer Support management, securing early involvement and efficient handover
- Perform necessary improvement projects, reporting, and analysis of current and future state, to ensure continuously improved performance
- Contribute to meet strategic targets for the division and Company
Qualifications and Experience
- Project and Programme management experience – essential
- Working within highly regulated marine industry with classification societies - desirable
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent - essential
- Budget management and human resource balancing experience - essential
- Proven track record of leading delivery of projects to quality, cost and schedule - essential
- Proven track record in contract negotiations and settlement agreements – essential
This role will be subject to BPSS clearance (at minimum), but may require full SC Clearance
