IT DevOps Platforms Engineer

Kongsberg Maritime is a global technology leader in the maritime industry, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that enhance safety, efficiency and performance at sea. As a world-leading company, we are driving the transition towards safer, smarter and more sustainable oceans, helping our customers solve complex challenges and shape the future of maritime operations.

As a IT DevOps Platform Engineer you blend DevOps culture with platform engineering, focusing on self-service workflows, scalability, and developer experience, both on-prem and in cloud. You will help build, maintain and operate infrastructure, shared tools, and "paved roads" that software developers use to ship code.  Additionally, communication in English and collaboration skills are imperative.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, maintain, and operate cloud and on-premises services for self-service development platforms.
  • Monitor cloud and on-premises services using automated monitoring tools (Grafana and similar).
  • Manage configurations to ensure consistency across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Orchestrate containerized applications (Kubernetes) to ensure scalability and efficient workload management.
  • Automate recurring tasks such as monitoring, maintenance, provisioning, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with CloudOps and development teams to ensure efficient and reliable CI/CD pipelines.

Technical stack

  • Automation & CI/CD: Azure DevOps, JFrog, GitHub, Atlassian Jira/Confluence, Docker, Git
  • Container orchestration tools: Kubernetes
  • Cloud platforms: Azure, AWS (GCP)
  • Observability: Grafana
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible

Preferred competencies

  • Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset, with the ability to tackle complex challenges.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (development, operations, cloud and security).
  • Adaptability and a continuous learning mindset when working with new tools and technologies.
  • Effective communication skills in English — essential for coordination with teams in Norway.
  • Product mindset: the ability to think of the platform as an internal service for developers.

What we can offer:

  • The opportunity to work in a global technology leader, contributing to innovative and sustainable solutions in the maritime industry.
  • Flexible compensation scheme (optional salary package)
  • Additional days off or extra vacation days (22+7)
  • A collaborative and international work environment, with close interaction with teams across different countries.
  • Continuous learning and development opportunities, including access to new technologies and professional growth.
  • Flexible working arrangements and a healthy work-life balance.
  • A supportive and inclusive culture that values diversity, teamwork, and knowledge sharing

At our company, we promote equal opportunity and foster an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome; we value diversity in all its forms and consider all applications regardless of gender, age, background, sexual orientation, or other characteristics, as we are convinced that diversity enriches our teams and therefore actively encourage diverse candidates to apply.
