Senior Electrical Engineer

Kongsberg Maritime is seeking a Senior Electrical engineer to join our Propulsion & Handling division.

In this role, you will be part of the Power, Auxiliary & Control system team in Thruster systems. You will be a key contributor in shaping, developing, and sustaining advanced electrical systems and integrations for our thruster portfolio. Your technical insight will be essential to secure robust, high‑performing solutions across our products. Through close collaboration with internal teams and engagement with customers, classification societies, and suppliers, you will help drive continuous improvement and strengthen the overall quality of our system offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain electrical system design and documentation
  • Take a leading role in development and improvement projects related to power & auxiliary systems for our thruster portfolio
  • Conduct testing and verification to ensure requirements are met.
  • Support customers and internal stakeholders with electrical system expertise and problem solving
  • Drive EPLAN methodology and excellence within the department

Qualifications

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience in development, design and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Relevant experience from the marine industry and ship propulsion systems
  • Knowledge of applicable IEC standards and marine class society rules
  • Solid experience with EPLAN for electrical design and documentation.
  • Knowledge or experience with electric motors, frequency converters and starters.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferable Ulsteinvik or Ålesund, Norway. Other KM locations in Nordics can be considered.

The role involves some travel depending on business and customer needs.
