Technical Advisor - Automation

Role Description

The Technical Advisor position will be delivering services and support to customers and Kongsberg Maritime's global support network. This includes travelling to customers, providing technical support, remote assistance, creating technical documentation, supporting upgrade designs, and offering technical sales support on the following Kongsberg products:

  • K-Chief and Acon integrated automation and alarm systems (IAS)
  • Bridge systems
  • Tanksounding systems
  • Switchboards and starters
  • LNG fuel systems

Effectiveness in this role requires strong collaborating with both customers and colleagues, as delivering high-quality support is a team effort. The position also requires the ability to travel worldwide on a regular basis.

 

What you will be doing

This role is a combination of office-based and in-field work:

  • In field
    • Delivering service and support
    • Perform troubleshooting and carry out upgrades of existing equipment
    • Identify sales and upgrade opportunities
    • Provide support to Project, Field Service and Spare part sales
    • Propose and implement improvements to products and services
  • Office
    • Prepare and deliver technical support,
    • Provide Remote Support to vessels worldwide
    • Carry out in-house service activities
  • Work closely with other departments to support integrated solutions
  • Maintaining internal and external guidelines for solving technical issues

 

We are looking for a candidate with

  • Experience with ship systems, preferably automation systems
  • Certificate of workmanship (fagbrev) and/or bachelor’s degree in relevant topics like automation, IT, computer science, electrical or equivalent
  • Fluent English and Norwegian language
  • Comfortably using IT tools as an integral part of daily work
