Product Manager

Join the Uncrewed Platforms division in Kongsberg Discovery as a Product Manager for our innovative bathymetric mapping system for naval applications. Kongsberg Discovery is a global leader in marine technology, offering cutting-edge and dependable solutions. In the Uncrewed Platforms division, we specialize in designing, manufacturing, and distributing different uncrewed and robotic systems ranging from autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) that can explore the oceans from the surface and down to 6000 meters below, uncrewed surface vessels (USV) that operate without crew for weeks at a time, as well as specialized, self-contained integrated sensor systems.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Product Manager you will take responsibility for parts of our product portfolio, overseeing a product line from inception to end-of-life. You will act as the vital link between customers, sales, engineering, and production, spearheading product development and continuous improvement. Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing the full life cycle of our bathymetric mapping system.
  • Leading product strategy and roadmap development.
  • Building a sustainable organization and cultivating strong relationships with a select group of governmental customers to support long-term use of the product.
  • Gathering and translating stakeholder, business, and user requirements into actionable plans.
  • Overseeing product development activities from requirements through validation, ensuring effective production and documentation.
  • Developing expertise in export control and the management of naval defense products.

You will work collaboratively with Product Advisors, other Product Managers, technical experts, and development teams. This position requires some travel, e.g., to conferences, customer visits, and exhibitions. You might occasionally join our operators and customers in the field on trials.

Key qualifications

  • A master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant technical field such as signal processing, hydro acoustics, marine technology, or marine robotics.
  • Proven experience in product management or technical management, particularly in industries that integrate mechanical elements with electronics and software.
  • Experience with technical systems for naval applications is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in product management IT tools, or a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills; Norwegian language skills are advantageous. Parts of the development and management team are US residents, so expect all written and much of the oral information to be in English.
