HSE Site Manager

As an HSE Site Manager, you will be responsible for leading the implementation and coordination of health, safety, and environmental initiatives at Kongsberg Maritime’s Galveston and Houston facilities. This role ensures compliance with applicable regulations and company standards, while promoting a strong, proactive safety culture across local operations.

This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in HSE practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of our safety culture.

Responsibility/Tasks

Supports management in developing and maintaining an HSE and Risk Management system that proactively supports the business objectives of KM Americas.

  • Maintain and improve HSE systems and programs for Galveston and Houston operations.
  • Lead efforts to promote safety awareness through training, toolbox talks, and routine communications.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support managers in implementing risk-reduction measures.
  • Manage incident investigations, track corrective actions, and share lessons learned with site teams.
  • Monitor and report HSE performance metrics using company tools (e.g., Synergi).
  • Conduct regular site safety walks, inspections, and audits to identify hazards and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide onboarding and refresher safety training for employees and contractors.
  • Partner with site leadership to continuously improve safety practices and culture.

Authority

  • Approve and execute actions to reach HSE objectives
  • Approve HSE documentation
  • Stop work authority (with an emphasis on explaining why unsafe job was stopped

Competence 

  •   Solid knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations, and industry HSE standards (including SEMS)
  •   Ability to handle simultaneous activities and work in a hectic environment.
