Who are we?
SmallSat systems is the part of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, working on world-class satellite systems that deliver real-world impact - enabling earth observation, maritime surveillance, and secure communications. Building on decades of experience in space technology, and with more than 50 successful satellite missions launched within our collective ecosystem, we cover the entire value chain from mission design to data delivery. This gives our employees the opportunity to contribute to true end-to-end solutions that matter.
We’ve already proven what’s possible: KDA developed, launched, and now operates its own maritime surveillance constellation, N3X. This achievement demonstrates sovereign capability and the power of integrated engineering - combining hardware, software, infrastructure and operations to protect national security and support sustainability.
As part of one of Europe’s most complete satellite solution providers, we collaborate across KONGSBERG’s technological domains and with leading partners. Our ecosystem includes Kongsberg NanoAvionics for modular platforms, Andøya Spaceport for launch, and Kongsberg Satellite Services for global ground station operations and many more. Together, we ensure full control, responsiveness, reliability, and security - from ground to orbit to data delivery.
