An exciting opportunity awaits you as Senior Lead Cybersecurity Engineer leading cybersecurity strategy, architecture, validation and verification activities within the Remote and Autonomous field in Kongsberg Maritime.

As the Lead Cybersecurity Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the security posture of our Remote and Autonomous (R&A) systems and products. Your leadership will be crucial in driving innovation and ensuring that cybersecurity considerations are at the forefront of both product development and operational strategy.

As part of the Remote and Autonomous unit, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement cybersecurity strategies and operations along the Vessel-Connectivity-Remote Operation Center-Port Infrastructure pipeline, ensuring all requirements are met for secure remote operations at Kongsberg Maritime. You will also lead matrixed cybersecurity efforts across complex software and hardware products within the extended Kongsberg team.

We are seeking an accomplished cybersecurity engineer with a proven track record of enhancing cybersecurity resilience and effectively integrating security measures across products, technologies, and processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong product and technology orientation, supported by significant experience in cybersecurity—preferably within integrated systems environments. This role requires an individual who excels at addressing complex challenges inherent to emerging technologies and business domains. You will be expected to work autonomously while engaging in close collaboration with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders including customers.

Key accountabilities

  • Hardening and vulnerability management of remote systems 

  • Conducting product cyber security risk assessment, requirements interpretations (IEC62443) and defining appropriate action plans

  • Defining and implementing a security architecture for Kongsberg Maritime’s Remote Products

  • Validation and verification of the effectiveness of Cyber Security Controls

  • Work closely with Kongsberg Cyber Security and product specialists within Kongsberg Maritime to further develop the range of Cyber Security products & services

  • Lead matrixed project teams and foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the teams

  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, customers, and cross-functional teams to ensure clear communication and seamless project execution

  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize product and project disruptions

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience in cybersecurity for integrated software and hardware products

  • Proven record of enhancing the cybersecurity resilience of integrated IT/OT

  • Hardening and testing experience with Linux and Windows-based systems, networks, cloud, and virtualised environments

  • Proficient in scripting and programming

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity toolsets such as Kali Linux, Tenable Nessus, DevSecOps, and CIS Benchmarks

  • Several years of experience in cybersecurity within IT and/or OT sectors

  • Knowledge of industrial control systems from maritime or related industries

  • Awareness of cybersecurity threats, risks, and vulnerabilities

  • Skilled in bug analysis, identifying root causes, and creating action plans to address cybersecurity and system issues

  • Technical understanding and practical experience with automation and control systems, including maritime applications; familiarity with remotely operated and autonomous systems is advantageous

  • Holds a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Science or relevant fields such as Software Engineering or Computer Science, along with technical certifications like CISSP, GICSP and GRID. Kongsberg Maritime will support amending needed certifications.

  • Proficient in English and Norwegian/Swedish; Finnish is a plus
