Located in Vestfold, Norway, the Maritime Simulation environment is a modern workplace situated in an idyllic town by the Oslo fjord only one hour from Oslo and less than two hours from Oslo Airport Gardermoen by car. Horten is a leading electronic hub with long nautical traditions. Horten has a rich and exciting culture. With excellent schools and colleges, and plenty of sports clubs and leisure activities, Horten is ideal for families with children.

We improve our software and methods continuously, aiming to keep at the leading edge. Our main development tool is Microsoft Visual Studio with a range of extensions, and the development process and source control are based on TFS and Git. Our main languages are C# and C++. The front-ends are currently WPF based combined with highly optimized 3D graphics systems, we are moving towards HTML5 based front ends with Typescript code, using frameworks like Angular. Be part of transforming our codebase together with a distributed full-stack Scrum team.

What are we looking for?

  • We require you to be fluent in C#, able to work with C++, and you should know the .NET framework very well. Other languages in addition is an advantage
  • We require you to have the ability to write clean and readable code
  • We require you to be a Git’er, and familiar with the basic principles. You know distributed source control and are familiar with techniques like rebasing your changes on master
  • We require you to be familiar with TDD practices and use of NUnit
  • We require you to be familiar with modern architectural principles and design patterns, and able to utilize these when coding and designing
  • We require you to have some experience with distributed principles like Client/Server, (Azure) Cloud and LAN communication
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written), including remote and cross-culture communication
  • Love to work in teams, collaborating to meet goals
  • We prefer if you are knowledgeable in modern object oriented and functional coding practices, including but not limited to interface based design, dependency inversion, refactoring and reactive extension
  • We prefer that you are familiar with Digital mapping and 3D modelling technologies
  • We prefer if you have DevOps skills, and are familiar with continuous deployment practices
