Technical Product Manager Autonomy

Kongsberg Discovery is a global marine technology company providing innovative and reliable solutions. In the Uncrewed Platforms division, we design, manufacture, and sell autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) that can explore the oceans from the surface and down to 6000 meters depth. Uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) are also part of our product portfolio, as well as support systems and engineering projects. Our systems can operate alone for days and weeks at a time, collecting data about the seafloor and the water.

What you will be working on

As a Technical Product Manager you will contribute to the management of our Autonomy portfolio of products and their life cycle. This position will require both a technical and a business mindset. Your tasks will vary from managing products and related documentation, technical sales and programs support, follow-up and oversight of development efforts. You will also act as a product subject matter expert; bridging between sales, engineering, customers, and production teams. You will contribute through the whole prosses from requirement capturing till end of life of products, and make sure our end products are according to customer needs and our strategy.

You will join the Product department which consists of a dedicated group of people responsible for all Uncrewed Platforms products. To succeed in this position, we believe you need to take initiative, be cooperative, responsible, structured, and quality minded. The position requires some travel, e.g., to conferences, customer visits, and exhibitions. You might occasionally join our operators and customers in the field.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure that our autonomy is developing according to our strategy and our customer operational needs
  • Be the link between users and developers
  • Oversee technological changes and trends
  • Assist product management and life cycle support
  • Initiation, product leadership, verification, and validation of product improvements and development

What we think you should have

  • Master Degree in Cybernetics, Robotics or similar fields
  • 3 years of experience or more with complex robotics and/or autonomous systems
  • A motivation to develop in a combined business-strategic and technical career
  • Skills to enable and encourage colleagues and customers to express their viewpoints
  • Fluent in both verbal and written English. Fluency in verbal and written Norwegian is beneficial, but not a requirement
