As Department Manager – Structural Design, you will:
- Lead and inspire the Structural Design group, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Work closely with the technical management team to drive departmental and organizational goals.
- Oversee and coordinate structural design activities for newbuilds, upgrades, and conversions, ensuring that the team delivers top-quality and efficient results.
- Champion your team’s growth by sharing expertise, supporting ongoing learning, and fostering a culture where new ideas are welcomed and explored.
- Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participating in budget and cost calculations for projects - prior experience is beneficial but not required.
Do you:
- Work well with others in a team and cooperate across different disciplines?
- Have positive interpersonal skills and a proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving, with a focus on empowering and supporting others?
- Have a relevant engineering education (college or university), for example related to marine structural engineering, naval architecture or ship design?
- Have an interest in actively shaping innovation through research and development and supporting our collaborative sales efforts?
- Have experience in project coordination or shipbuilding? That’s great—but it’s not a requirement.

About Ship Design & Integration Engineering
Kongsberg Maritime have a long history of delivering pioneering Ship and Systems designs of the highest quality to produce state-of-the-art vessels operating in a broad range of segments, from offshore support to expedition cruise and merchant cargo. The Ship Design & Integration Engineering department delivers the integrated systems engineering, ship design engineering and on-site/at-yard quality control needed to produce vessel newbuilds, upgrades and conversions efficiently and to the highest standard.
